The Go Succeed Start team hosts this in-person ‘The Investable Entrerpeneur’ masterclass.

What makes a business worth backing? Having a good idea is only the beginning. When you are looking for finance, investment or grant support, the question is not simply “Is this a good idea?”, it is “Why this business, why this entrepreneur, and why now?” The Investable Entrepreneur is a two-hour inspirational in person masterclass designed to give entrepreneurs a different perspective on what it means to build a business that others are prepared to back.

Investment and funding comes with risk, responsibility and expectations, for everyone involved. Whether the money comes from an investor, a bank, a government agency or a council, the people providing it have their own responsibilities to shareholders, customers, backers, taxpayers or the wider economy. And where funding is limited and applications are competitive, understanding what makes your business and your opportunity stand out becomes increasingly important.

This masterclass will explore the role of the entrepreneur as well as the business; the experience, commitment, contribution and ambition behind the opportunity. It will also look at how businesses can think about growth in a more focused way, identifying what they are trying to achieve, what they need to make it happen and what they are prepared to bring themselves. Because external funding rarely represents the whole investment required, and growth rarely happens without its own financial, administrative and practical challenges.

Through real business experiences, case studies and a panel of entrepreneurs, investment decision makers and business advisors, participants will hear different perspectives on what it means to seek and receive investment or funding as well as what happens once you have it. The session is intended to inspire ambition, challenge thinking and help entrepreneurs see their own business from a different perspective.

By the end of the masterclass, participants will have:

Greater confidence and inspiration to think about the potential of their business and where they want to take it.
A better understanding of what makes an entrepreneur and a business worth backing.
Greater appreciation of the perspective and responsibilities of those providing investment or funding.
An understanding of why focus, timing, contribution and the opportunity itself matter when seeking support.
The inspiration and starting point to develop or revisit their own growth plan and consider what they may need to make it happen.
