On Saturday 11th September 2021, Planet Love 2021 makes its debut at Boucher Road Playing Fields, Belfast.

Twenty-three years ago, in August 1998, a seismic shift was felt across Ireland’s music scene. After two years of planning and lobbying, the first ever licence was granted for an outdoor, enclosed, multi-arena music festival, setting a precedent for Northern and Southern Ireland.

Planetlove – Ireland’s original festival - was born, and with it, Ireland’s music festival industry.
Thirteen Planetlove festivals were held annually at four Northern locations, most notably Shane’s Castle, Antrim. The festival attracted the who’s who of the dance music world to its many stages, including Calvin Harris, Fatboy Slim, Run DMC, Eric Prydz, Example, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk and Carl Cox among hundreds of other top names and world renowned brands, together with the very best of local talent.

In 2007, another ground breaking move transpired when Planetlove Ireland was held in County Meath on the same day as its Northern edition, attracting over 40,000 music lovers across both events.

RTE’s 2FM and BBC’s Radio 1 broadcast regularly from the festival and to mark its 10th birthday in 2008 the Northern event ran over two days with camping and Tiesto in concert.

The Planetlove Winter Party series at King’s Hall, Belfast, on Boxing Night was also a Christmas staple for many years.

We hope to put smiles on the 200,000+ people who attended Planetlove events, over the last 23 years. With the return of Planetlove 2021.
