TOKYO JAZZ JOINTS is an audiovisual documentary project to capture the vanishing world of Japanese jazz coffee shops (‘kissa’) and bars, created by Belfast-born photographer Philip Arneill, and broadcaster and native New Yorker James Catchpole. Both are long-term residents of Japan and avid jazz fans, and since 2015 have been visiting jazu kissa across the country to document them before they disappear from the musical landscape forever. The TOKYO JAZZ JOINTS photobook will be published in Spring 2023 by Kehrer Verlag.
